Sunshine days

The 2 white kites
Well, the kites are in on time now, but the bulk of the birds are still coming in around 5pm.

With cooler weather on the horizon I'm sure we'll be back to normal soon.

There were 2 white red kites here yesterday, and these images were captured together by
 Dee Maddams

Side by side

Due to a shoulder injury, I'm not able to feed the kites this summer, so Colin Horlock will now be seen  feeding the birds every day.

That time of year again..

Red kite and Raven
Yesterday was the hottest day of the summer so far, so the kites took to the thermals and did not come in for their food until 4:30pm - full hour and a half late!

With no rooks (they have left for the hills, as the crane fly grubs are hatching) and only nervous carrion crows left to persuade the kites that lunch is disappearing, we are left in the hands of the kites as to when they are going to appear.

Usually, the cooling of the day will be enough, but one can never tell with wild birds..

We currently have 3 kites in for rehabilitation, and they are each going on well, so will be back in the wild in the near future.
